Characteristics of cigarette smokers seeking treatment for cessation versus reduction

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to compare cigarette smokers seeking treatment to quit smoking and cigarette smokers treatment to reduce the number of cigarettes they smoke. The results indicated that cigarette smokers seeking treatment for smoking reduction might be more dependent smokers and experience more medical disorders.

Energy intake and physical activity during short-term smoking cessation in postmenopausal women

Article Abstract:

The effect of short-term abstinence on weight gain and energy intake and physical activity amongst postmenopausal women was observed. The levels of kilocalorie and carbohydrate intakes were higher amongst non-smokers than smokers, with no significant or noticeable change in physical activities.

The blind spot in the nicotine replacement therapy literature assessment of the double blind in clinical trials

Article Abstract:

The integrity of blind and its relationship to treatment is rarely examined. Seventy-three double blind, placebocontrolled clinical trials of the nicotine replacement therapies (NRTs) in smoking cessation were identified and examined.
