Chronic violent video game exposure and desensitization to violence: Behavioral and event-related brain potential data

Article Abstract:

Two categories of video game players, violent and non-violent, finished a visual oddball task in which neutral, violent and negative nonviolent target images were presented in a neutral image context while event-related brain potentials were recorded. It was predicted that violent video game players would show deficits in P300 amplitude to violent images and not to negative nonviolent images, relative to nonviolent participants.

You've got mail: Using e-mail to examine the effect of prejudiced attitudes on discrimination against Arabs

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted in which participants were sent a lost email intended for someone else in order to examine subtle forms of discrimination directed towards Arabs. It was found that in comparison to less prejudiced individuals, more prejudiced individuals were likely to return a lost e-mail stating that an Arab had won a scholarship and were more likely to return a lost e-mail stating that an Arab had not won a scholarship.

The effect of video game violence on physiological desensitization to real-life violence

Article Abstract:

The current study indicates that constant exposure to video game violence in the virtual world can make people, without any individual differences, less physiologically aroused by real violence, as they get used to the gruesome environment and become numb to it and are more reluctant to help victims of violence in real life.
