Cocaine dependence and PTSD: a pilot study of symptom interplay and treatment preferences

Article Abstract:

The article examines the interrelationship of treatment modalities, therapy format, and psychotherapy in patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and cocaine dependence. While improvement or worsening of PTSD symptoms respectively decreased or increased patients' cocaine use, decreases or increases in cocaine use were not related to improvement or worsening of PTSD symptoms.

Assessing the most powerful analysis method for school-based intervention studies with alcohol, tobacco, and other drug outcomes

Article Abstract:

Four mixed-model analyses valid for group - randomized trials (GRTs) involving a nested cohort design with a single pretest and a single posttest are evaluated. Estimates of intraclass correlations (ICCs) available to investigators planning GRTs with alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs measures as the outcomes of interest are presented.

Evaluating the lions--quest "Skills for Adolescence" drug education program second-year behavior outcomes

Article Abstract:

The effects of Skills for Adolescence (SFA) treatment on middle school students binge drinking and marijuana use indicate that SFA increases self-efficacy pertaining to drug refusal skills but not behavioral intentions, perception of harm, or perceived peer norms as seen in sixth- and eigth-grade students.
