Conditions making for success and failure of denial and deception: nonstate and illicit actors

Article Abstract:

Nonstate and illicit actors could be transnational companies, failed states, revolutionary organizations and religious orders. The conditions necessary for the success and failure of strategic denial and deception by these nonstate and illicit actors are discussed with the help of case studies and it is concluded that the more illicit and hidden the group, the more difficult it is for them to organize strategic deception.

Strategic denial and deception

Article Abstract:

Denial refers to blocking information and deception is making the opponent believe in something that is not true. Denial and deception (D&D) become strategic if it directly affects the nations' fortunes and interests. The threat to the U.S. from the practitioners of D&D is all persuasive but efforts can be made to minimize its impact.
