Conflicts over farming practices in Canada: the role of interactive conflict resolution approaches

Article Abstract:

An evaluation is presented on the use of interactive conflict management techniques to resolve problems arising from changing agricultural policies and practices. The interactive techniques emphasize positive social interaction and communication between the disputing parties, and research indicates that they are successful in bringing about socially and economically optimal outcomes.

Marginality and gender at work in factory communities of British Columbia, Canada

Article Abstract:

The practices and discourses of forestry work in a Canadian context are studied. An argument that women contribute to their own marginality by their adherence to discourses and practices that reinforce stereotypes about the industry is presented.
