Standards for rigor in qualitative inquiry

Article Abstract:

Issues related to qualitative approaches to social work research are examined, focusing on the need to assign as much importance to qualitative inquiry as to quantitative inquiry. Topics include the advantages of qualitative inquiry, strategies for improving qualitative rigor, and the importance of abiding by high research standards in both approaches.

Controlling for potential biases in research on social work practice effectiveness: are higher standards needed?

Article Abstract:

An argument is presented encouraging the use of other methodologies aside from standardized instruments in social work practice. Reasons include the ineffectiveness or inappropriateness of standardized instruments in evaluating the success or failure of practice techniques in certain situations.
