Correlates of problem drinking among drug-using incarcerated women

Article Abstract:

In a study done on 159 women prisoners at Rikers island correctional facility, New York, a correlation was found between regular drug use and alcohol consumption. Childhood sexual abuse, negative coping skills and drinking pattern of the family have been identified as the major psychosocial variables that significantly influence the drinking in prisoned women.

The relationship between drug abuse and sexual performance among women on methadone heighting the risk of sexual intimate violence and HIV

Article Abstract:

Subjective experiences regarding the effects of illicit drugs on women's sexual behavior and that of their male sexual partners, mainly in libido, performance and pleasure are examined. The study of abused women in MMTPs draws implications for understanding the contextual mechanisms linking drug use, intimate sexual abuse, and HIV risk.

Intimate partner violence and substance use: a longitudinal day-to-day examination

Article Abstract:

Married or cohabiting partners involving violent men were examined during a 15 month period to test the likelihood of male-to-female physical aggression when male partners were on substance use. It was noticed that the occurrence of violence was higher on days of no drug or alcohol use than that of substance use.
