Depression and smoking: from the transtheoretical model of change perspective

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to investigate the associations among history of depressive symptoms, and constructs of the Transtheoretical model (TTM) of change, decisional balance, temptation, and processes of change for smoking cessation. The existing depression symptoms was related to other TTM constructs such as pros of smoking, temptation to smoke under habitual and negative affect situations, and the self-reevaluation process of change.

Depression and stages of change for smoking in psychiatric outpatients

Article Abstract:

Psychiatric testing for depression in psychiatric outpatients showed that smokers had more depressive symptoms than nonsmokers. It also showed that smokers in the process of quitting did not have more depressive symptoms but did have negative thoughts about quitting smoking.

Working memory in cigarette smokers: comparison to non-smokers and effects of abstinence

Impact of smoking and cessation on working memory is examined. A comparative analysis of working memory of non-smokers is also presented.
