Differences in community participation in tourism development between China and the West

Article Abstract:

The article explores difficulties faced by community participation in tourism development in China and studies the dissimilarities in community participation in tourism development in Western countries and China. In western countries, community participates in every aspect of tourism development whereas in Chinese community participation is very low and is only in context of economic activity.

Anthropological tourism analysis on community participation: the case study of Yulong river in Yangshuo

Article Abstract:

A study of community participation in development of tourist attraction along Yulong river reveals that the development of tourism along Yulong river has exceeded far more planned resulting in chaos and pollution. Government should have limited dominant role in community participation in tourism and local resident's opinions should be taken into consideration.

Anthropological tourism analysis on community participation: the case study of Dai village in Xishuangbanna

Article Abstract:

The article does anthropological evaluation of community participation in tourism development in China with study of Dai village case. Though Dai village gives importance to participation in tourism by local residents in their strategy of tourism management, the local residents play a passive role and their participation is not in-depth.
