Doctor in the house: the Internet as a source of lay health knowledge and the challenge to expertise

Issues are discussed regarding laypeoples' use of the Internet as a source of information about medicine.Results of the effects on health beliefs and behaviors in a qualitiative study of households who accessed health information routinely on the Internet are given.
