Dynamics of Romanian emigration after 1989

Article Abstract:

The dynamics of temporary emigration in post 1989 Romania was examined with the help of two-fold approach. It was indicated that the stages of temporary emigration abroad, since 1989, was closely connected to the stages of permanent emigration and internal migration, in addition structural-level factors as well as human and social capital play a significant role in shaping actual temporary migration.

Measuring international forced migration, 1969-1999: the global forced migration project

Article Abstract:

The problems of constructing valid estimates of the number of international forced migrants and internal displacement by systematically comparing the official estimates of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees and the U.S. Committee for Refugees are discussed. These valid estimates can be used to develop better humanitarian planning, an accurate historical record and for policy purposes.

Political process, international dependence, and mass political conflict: a global analysis of protest and rebellion, 1973-1978

Article Abstract:

The protest and rebellion are often understood as quantitatively distinct strategies of civil contention with the former prevailing in developed democracies and the latter in the less developed countries. The confirmatory factor analysis of civil contention in a global cross-national sample of countries shows a significant overlap between protest and rebellion.
