Union disruption in West Germany: educational homogeneity, children, and trajectories in marital and nonmarital unions

Article Abstract:

The contemporary German inclination is toward better acceptance of performing the conventional roles of marriage through other arrangements. Educational equality, financial independence of women and birth of children have different effects on marital and nonmarital unions.

How does gender inequality in employment and earnings vary by educational stratum in Sweden and the United States?

Article Abstract:

The effect of gender inequality in labor force participation, the difference in earnings due to educational level with more highly educated women more likely to be employed than less educated women in Sweden and the U.S. is discussed.

Union disruption in the Netherlands: opposing influence of task specialization and assortative mating

Article Abstract:

The impact of job specialization and arranged mating on divorce in the Netherlands is assessed. It is evident from the study that education, wife's occupational status and working hours have destabilizing effect on marriage.
