Can evolutionary psychology explain reproductive behavior in the contemporary United States?

Article Abstract:

The ability of evolutionary psychology in explaining human behavior in postindustrial societies is evaluated. It is demonstrated that men in contemporary societies do not have more children, nonetheless have more sex partners and copulate more frequently than poor men.

Sources of the discontinuity effect: playing against a group versus being in a group

Article Abstract:

The reason why people behave more competitively while playing mixed-motive games against groups is determined. It is shown that people remember their social interactions with groups as more competitive than their social interactions with individuals.

Militias at the millennium: a test of Smelser's theory of collective behavior

Article Abstract:

The content of Internet traffic of U.S. militias was analyzed to test the thesis outlined in Niel Smelser's theory. Smelser's theory of collective behavior is a powerful explanation for the rise of the neo-militia movement in the U.S.
