Economic hardship, religion, and mental health during the midwestern farm crisis

Article Abstract:

The reasons affecting the mental health of individuals and the process by which this occurs and factors that moderate are still not understood but this study is done to address how economic hardship, religion and psychosocial variables affect mental health outcomes wide spreading economic crises in the farm sector. The macro-level structural changes resulting in context of economic hardship is studied.

Translating terroir: the global challenge of French AOC labeling

Article Abstract:

The current importance of labels of origin for agro-food products as a part of a biopolitics that relinks the local and global through emphasis on place is considered. To demonstrate as to how the French appellation d'origine controlee (AOC) opens market forms of justification to larger arenas of social scrutiny, its request process is outlined and its aspects are analyzed.

Biodiversity-a new spatial challenge for Finnish agri-environmental policies?

Article Abstract:

Biodiversity has claimed to give a new meaning to nature is analyzed. The nature in the form of biodiversity and rurality are constructed in the context of Finnish agri-environmental policy-making and biodiversity policies are explored. The difficulties in trying to integrate biodiversity into the Finnish-environmental Scheme are mentioned.
