Employment discrimination against older workers: an experimental study of hiring practices

Article Abstract:

Older people who seek employment are likely to be discriminated against by employers. Ways to lessen the effects of age discrimination in applying for jobs include the strategies of deemphasizing age while emphasizing the advantages of experience and maturity and emphasizing the applicant's youthful qualities. However, collective public and private efforts are needed to totally eliminate age discrimination which rests on the assumption that younger workers perform better than older ones.
