Evaluation of a faith-based culturally relevant program for African American substance users at risk for HIV in the Southern United States

Article Abstract:

A federally funded faith-based program is evaluated that has served African Americans using heroin and cocaine and are at risk for HIV/AIDS in Nashville, Tennessee, U.S. The results have shown that a continuum of intensive faith-based and noncoercive outcome, case management and substance abuse treatment services can be implemented and might be effective for the target population.

The homesickness and contentment scale: developing a culturally sensitive measure of adjustment for Asians

Article Abstract:

The Homesickness and Contentment scale as a culturally sensitive measure of adjustment for Asians immigrants in a foreign country is analyzed. The scale is intended to be culturally sensitive to Asians in measuring psychological adjustment to a new culture, taking account of the private nature of Asians when examining symptoms of homsickness.

Delivering substance abuse and child welfare content through interactive television

Article Abstract:

A favorable assessment of interactive telvision for teaching drug abuse counseling is given. Stidemt ratings of the amount learned compared favorably to traditional courses. Instructor-student communication, student performance and course grades appeared comparable in both settings.
