Experiencing landscape: Orkney hill land and farming

Article Abstract:

The experience of rural landscape according to combinations of practical engagements with land and the ways meaning is made in relation to it is analyzed. The hill land and farmland in Orkney in relation to the wider construction of Highland and Lowland is discussed and notions of the meaning of landscape and its relation to socio-economic processes of continuity and change are brought out.

What does it mean to be rational? A framework for assessment and practice

Article Abstract:

A heuristic framework for how individuals orient themselves within relationships that include two dimensions, focus and power, evolving out of the social context is presented. The two dimensions are considered to present the four basic relational orientations, position directed, rule directed, independence directed, and relationship directed orientations along with case examples.
