Critical sociologies and ressentiment: The examples of C. Wright Mills and Howard Becker

Article Abstract:

The relationship between biography and thought is clarified, identifying the driving force behind the work of C. Wright Mills, and its capacity to be reflective of ressentiment is consolidated. Further, it is also suggested that Howard Becker is driven by negativity, expressing in his studies more contempt than commitment and implicates himself in the social conditions he takes to task.
