Framing the doctor-patient relationship in chronic illness: a comparative study of general practitioners' accounts

Article Abstract:

The article examines the fundamental conditions used by general practitioners to frame their relationships with patients displaying combinations of psychological, social, and medical symptoms, and identifies requirements for local negotiation of patients' symptoms and their meanings for both physicians and their patients.
