Funding opportunities for social work doctoral students through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development

Article Abstract:

The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is introduced as a potential funding source for social work doctoral students. Two grant programs developed by the US Department of HUD, namely, Early Doctoral Students Research Grant and the Doctoral Dissertation Research Grant, are highlighted and guidelines are provided on preparing a strong application.

Human caring in the social work context: Continued development and validation of a complex measure

Article Abstract:

A study that addresses the practical problems and concerns in child welfare practice is described. Results reveal that the quality of the services provided by public child welfare systems is determined to a great extent by the quality of the workforce.
