HIV risk and the freedom to act without thinking: alcohol use and sexual behavior among adolescents on probation

Article Abstract:

Alcohol use has always been linked to the early onset and increased frequency of sexual activity and a higher degree of sexual involvement for teenagers that expose teenagers to higher risks of sexually transmitted Interviews conducted among teenagers reveal that not all of them believe that sexual activity is influenced by alcohol drinking. Rather, they contend that their decision to drink or to engage in sex are manifestations of their right to freedom of action or may be effected by parent or peer pressure,

The attachment partnership as conceptual base for exploring the impact of child maltreatment

Article Abstract:

The lessons learned from the "attachment partnership" about perceiving another's point of view and communicating emotional experience are generalized to social relationships outside the home. Child abuse will probably impair these social skills by hurting children's emotional and social development. Relevant literature from attachment theory and research is reviewed, and implications for clinical intervention discussed.

The voices of victims: Surviving child sexual abuse

The author interviews survivors of child sexual abuse regarding what types of services provided were the most beneficial to their recovery. Topics include use of focus groups, thematic analysis, and sexual abuse treatment methodology.
