Helena Radlinska: expanding conceptualizations of social work practice from Poland's past

Article Abstract:

An overview is presented on the theories and techniques of Helena Radlinska, who launched Poland's first school of social work in 1925 at the Free University of Poland in Warsaw. Radlinska advocated a background in science and the liberal arts prior to social work training, addressed both rural and urban needs, and viewed research as an intrinsic component of developing practical applications.
