Incest survivor mothers: protecting the next generation

Article Abstract:

Sixteen Canadian incest survivor mothers were interviewed regarding their attitudes on the protection of children, parentification, and sexuality with special emphasis on their relationship with their daughters. Effects of older brother-younger sister incest: a study of the dynamics of 17 cases

Article Abstract:

Four common effects are noted among women who have been sexually abused by their older brother as a child or an adolescent. These are a mistrust of men and women, chronic lower or negative self-esteem, sexual response difficulties and intrusive thoughts of the incest. The family origins of all the women-subjects are found to be dysfunctional and lacking in emotional support for the victim.
