Influence of family disharmony and parental alcohol use on adolescent social skills, self-efficacy and alcohol use

Article Abstract:

A study of the impacts of family relationships and parental alcohol use on adolescent alcohol use reveals that poor family ties are the major factors that influence alcohol use and social behavior in adolescents. Alcohol use by parents relates to adolescent consumption patterns and not to their social skills. Alcohol usage influences social skills and affects self-esteem in adolescent consumers.
