Article Abstract:

Individuals' abilities to recall and retell spot news stories are examined according to psychological dimensions of attention, perception, and memory distortion. Research indicates that a person's recall of a news story will be shorter, will generally pertain to those subjects considered important by the individual, and may contain details not found in the original story.
