Mapping the household
Article Abstract:
A new method of household mapping to be used by the British Household Panel Survey based on a method of enumerating household members to establish patterns has been devised. It is necessary to record relationships in a household in a proper manner, as changes in composition and stability have tremendous influence on individuals and societies. The method of measurement employed in the British survey is described and an example of information on households with non-nuclear members, such as step-children, is presented.
