Measuring accuracy of self-reported vehicular offences and blood alcohol concentration levels among whites and Mexican Americans mandated to drinking driver problems

Article Abstract:

Self-reported and California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) reported vehicular offences and blood alcohol concentration (BAC) levels among 249 Mexican respondents and 250 white non-Hispanics, who were found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol were compared for determining the measure of accuracy. The data collected indicates that the Mexican-born respondents underreported BAC levels as compared to the non-Hispanic respondents suggesting the existence of ethnic differences in accuracy of reporting vehicular offences and BAC levels.
