Nigerian and Ghanaian popular music: two varieties of Creolization

Article Abstract:

The popular music of Nigeria and Ghana represent two varieties of creolization. Creolization focuses on every culture's creative imagination power, whereas the African music tradition flows from the opposition to entrenched power. This tradition is the basic idea of both Nigerian and Ghanaian music. However, the first seeks open hostile engagement while the latter seeks harmony and integration. A message that is worthy to be communicated and the technique to communicate the message are crucial in the understanding of African popular music.

'Carry on Cabby,' gender, and the local industrial power nexus

Article Abstract:

The film 'Carry on Cabby' can be viewed as a portrayal of economic hardships in the UK after the war and its effect on the relationships between the sexes. The movie argues that British society should maintain its composure as Prime Minister Harold Wilson attempts to revolutionize the country's technological industry. Although movie critics had given low ratings to other 'Carry On' movies, the 'Cabby' sequel has proven that films of this class can also be interesting and socially significant.
