Non-military security in the wider Middle East

Article Abstract:

This article examines international security issues regarding the opium trade, unregulated population movements, and maritime piracy throughout the Middle East. The author argues that these activities create transnational problems such as threatening stability and undermining economic growth, and maintains the United States has the resources and leadership position to facilitate countermeasures.
