Parent-centered intervention: A practical approach for preventing drug abuse in Hispanic adolescents

Article Abstract:

A family-based, empirically supported, culturally specific drug abuse and HIV prevention intervention, Familias Unidas, designed for Hispanic immigrant adolescents is reviewed and discussed. The discussion and recommendations serve as a guide for social workers and mental health practitioners to carry out effective family-based adolescent substance use and HIV preventive intervention.

Confidentiality intervention: effects on provider-consumer-family collaboration

Article Abstract:

A model intervention clarifying confidentiality policies regarding releasing information to families was evaluated for its effectiveness in improving provider-consumer-family collaboration. It was concluded that model intervention if faithfully implemented, might enhance collaboration between providers, consumers, and families.

Evaluating the outcomes of family-based intervention for troubled children: a pretest-posttest study

Article Abstract:

Research is presented on a family-based intervention strategy aimed at helping troubled children, along with methodologies used to obtain data. It is concluded that the 12-week intervention strategy examined can be directly linked with improved psychosocial interaction between parents and children.
