Ethnic residential patterns as predictors of intra-urban child mortality inequality in Accra, Ghana

Article Abstract:

The pattern of child mortality inequalities within a larger sub-Saharan African city, Accra in Ghana is examined. It is observed that spatial variability in child mortality in Accra is associated with the pattern of residential separation of the Ga from other ethnic groups.

The article examines the retail enterprise of immigrant ethnic groups in the United States in the late 19th century to suggest that a city's position in the urban-regional hierarchy is an important factor that influences ethnic entrepreneurship in that city.
