Perceiving individuals and groups as coherent: how do perceivers make sense of variable behavior?

Article Abstract:

Inconsistent behavior a person display across different situations and still be perceived as coherent person is investigated. Various experiments in which participants read about a target person whose behavior across eight situations varied randomly or covaried systematically with goal-relevant situations were conducted and the results were verified as regards the causes of such irregular social behavior.

Changing past behavior without means of a time machine: effects on future behavioral decisions

Article Abstract:

Four tests based on the ease of retrieval effect are conducted to better understand the cognitive mediation of past behavior. The significances of the findings are discussed.
