Prepubertal sons of substance abusers: influences of parental and familial substance abuse on behavioral disposition, IQ, and school achievement

Article Abstract:

Paternal substance abuse has been reported to increase the problematic behavioral disorders in their prepubertal sons, and these boys also score low on IQ and performance in schools. Substance abuse by both the parents is associated with greater internalizing and externalizing problems. A more significant correlation is seen between IQ and school performance and the socioeconomic status and paternal substance abuse.
