Public outreach: marketing by another name

Article Abstract:

An overview is presented on the Comprehensive Grant Program, which provides funding to local housing authorities (LHAs) for infrastructure upgrades, rehabilitation of existing buildings, and new construction. The program requires LHAs to increase their responsiveness to consumer demand for specialized products, necessitating an enhanced public outreach strategies such as surveys.

Marketing HOPE VI housing: getting it right in mixed-income communities

Article Abstract:

HOPE VI program funds are available to local housing authorities who will use them to renovate or rebuild public housing and make it more attractive to low income working families. To attract the working poor, low income housing needs to be located in safe neighborhoods, be attractive and clean and be affordable.

The state of low-income housing

Article Abstract:

A 1999 report by the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University says that despite the booming economy, there is still a lack of affordable housing available and the cost of renting is a burden to low income households. Much of the low income housing available is also substandard.
