Reactions to acceptance and rejection: effects of level and sequence of relational evaluation

Article Abstract:

The effects of various levels of sequences of acceptance and rejection on emotion, ratings of self and others, and behavior are examined. Studies indicate that rejection elicited greater anger, sadness, and hurt feelings than acceptance, increasing rejection, or constant rejection.

When I think of you, I feel more confident about me: the relational self and self-confidence

Article Abstract:

The social aspects of self-activation are analyzed in terms of self-confidence. The greater relational interdependence is found to boost the self-confidence.

Maintaining lies: the multiple-audience problem

An interpersonal predicament created by deception is examined. However, the equivocation and complexity contributes to the liar's multiple-audience problem.
