Reconceptualising the 'behavioural approach' in agricultural studies: A socio-psychological perspective

Article Abstract:

Behavioral approaches in agriculture can be improved by adopting Ajzen's theory of planned behavior as a conceptual framework by taking normative influences, self-identity and perceived self-efficacy into account. One has to be aware regarding the impoverished nature of many quantitative behavioral studies in agriculture.

The right to development: Construction of a non-agriculturalist discourse of rurality in Denmark

Article Abstract:

The two discourses on rurality, the modern-agriculturist and the non-agriculturist are discussed. The effect of the non-agriculturist discourse on the population and state politics is studied, which is defined in terms of community, culture, environment and active citizenship.

Productivism is allegedly dead, long live productivism. Evidence of continued productivist attitudes and decision-making in South-East England

Article Abstract:

An analysis of large-scale commercial farmers is undertaken to gather evidence of the transition from the 'productivist' to the 'post-productive' era. It was found that farmers were intensifying and specializing their agricultural operations.
