Refugees, returnees and displaced persons in Africa OAU experts meeting

Article Abstract:

The number of African refugees has increased and this has caused reasonable concern for the welfare of the African continent by leaders of the member states of the Organization of African Unity (OAU). It has been determined that the refugee situation has been most affected by civil strife, ethnic violence, human rights abuses and political intolerance. The OAU is determined to the refugee situation more closely and adopt special measures to address the protection and other needs of refugee women, children, elderly and other vulnerable groups with the assistance of the United Nations.

Human rights problems of foreigners in Japan's criminal justice system

Article Abstract:

Japan's criminal justice system remains problematic in dealing with human rights of foreigners. Japan's existing criminal laws are not in accordance with the standards under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights to which the country is a signatory. This problem is primarily attributed to Japan's complicated criminal procedures and comprehension of the Japanese language.
