The under-use of psychological services by Israeli Arabs: an examination of the roles of negative attitudes and the use of alternative sources of help

Article Abstract:

Studies have shown that ethnic minorities frequently do not fully avail of professional psychological services despite a demonstrable need. This under-utilization has also been observed in the Arab population of Israel. The possibility that negative attitudes toward psychological help-seeking and the availability of alternative sources of assistance in the community are the underlying factors behind a study indicating the under-utilization of professional services by the Arabs of Jaffa in Tel-Aviv is evaluated.
