Reply to commentaries: facts, values, ideologies and ageing

Article Abstract:

It is imperative to explore the possibility of an open policy of aged-based rationing in the matter of resource allocation to the elderly. There are three valid questions to consider on the subject. Firstly, will the provision of good health care for the elderly result in a current significant economic crisis in developed countries or lead to one in the future? Second, what solutions might address such a crisis? Third, what type of ideological and social foundation will morally justify age-based rationing?
