Drug discrimination: stimulus control during repeated testing in extinction

Article Abstract:

This article examines the effects of extinction training on stimulus control and response rates in rats conditioned to respond differentially to a lever-press drug-discrimination task. Findings indicate that extinction phases reduce response rates in rats, but stimulus control, or the percentage of appropriate responses, remains high.

Response rate viewed as engagement bouts: effects of relative reinforcement and schedule type

Article Abstract:

This study investigates factors that influence engagement bouts and response rates of food-deprived rats during a key-press task. Findings indicate that factors influencing response rates include the amount of reinforcing food pellets provided, the encouragement of additional responses, and reinforcement schedules while engagement bouts are influenced by relative reinforcement.

Behavioral and pharmacological variables affecting risky choice in rats

Article Abstract:

This article examines the effects of response requirements, changes in intertrial intervals, and the use of psychoactive drugs on risk-taking behavior in rats during a lever-press task. Findings indicate that the drug type, the amount of lever presses required to receive food, and intertrial interval length significantly influence risk taking.
