Social gerontology as public sociology in action

Article Abstract:

Social gerontology gives a useful model of successful public sociology in action as it is a multidisciplinary field working on basic and applied research and practice, in improving the lives of older people, reorganizing the age and aging related problems, thus connecting with the public. The social gerontology's historical and theoretical developments are reviewed by providing four examples of public sociology in action.
