Minsei i'in - between public and private: a local network for community care in Japan

Article Abstract:

The minsei i'in is an old social service system in Japan that is continuously helping the government to address the increasing and diversifying needs in social welfare. Minsei'in have very close communications with local residents who looked upon them as helpful neighbors. One major task of minsei i'in are providing for local residents' need for consultation and guidance. Minsei i'in actually serves as a link between the local administrative authority, social welfare institutions, and residents.

Community-based rehabilitation

Community-based rehabilitation (CBR) is a fast growing model of providing services to people with disabilities. Philosophy and structure, strengths and weaknesses of the CBR model are described.
