The attitudes of American sociologists toward casual theories of male homosexuality

Article Abstract:

Two general models that have emerged in social science regarding the etiology of homosexuality in social science literature, namely the essentialist model and the constructionist model, and the empirical data on their relative support are reviewed. A random sample of sociologists teaching in colleges and universities all over the United States was used for data, which showed that the essentialist position was endorsed by most of the sociologists.

Sociologists on trial: theoretical competition and juror reasoning

Article Abstract:

Some sociological theories are used in criminal trials, and for the correct understanding of cases. Some results and data from the sociological studies, including a body of ethnographic and ethnomethodological research on court activities and responsibility attributions are analyzed and discussed.
