The impact of gender disempowerment on the welfare of Zimbabwean women

Article Abstract:

This article examines the human rights abuses suffered by women and children in developing countries with a focus on Zimbabwe. The author, arguing that patriarchal systems disempower women and generates a cycle of impoverishment for women and children, suggests that organizing a strength based community by NGOs, governments, and grassroots women's movements can ensure the protection of women's and children's human rights.
