Male victims of child sexual abuse

Article Abstract:

The under-reporting of the incidence of sexual abuse of young males gives a false sense of the limits of child sexual abuse. The traditional male ethic of self-reliance, fear of homosexuality and societal non-acceptability of abuse by women are some of the important factors responsible for this under-reporting. Some of the indicators of sexual abuse in male children are nocturnal enuresis, paranoid and phobic behavior, and concerns and changes in the body. Implications of this under-reporting for clinicians are presented.

Recent legal trends in child sexual abuse cases: direction for child protection workers

Article Abstract:

Child protection workers should gain a better understanding of the limitation of their roles in the investigatory process and court proceedings in order to ensure a just conviction and avoid the stigma of false accusations against accused defendants. Though major legal changes have occurred in the legal system to protect children who have been sexually abused but due to improper investigatory proceedings or expert testimony, some of the convictions have been reserved.
