The Bella Vista of the Belizean refugees

Article Abstract:

Belize has become the home of many Latin American refugees including, Mexicans, Salvadoran and Guatemalans. Belizean population is composed on the native Mayans and 40% are mestizos, or of mixed racial parentage. Refugee settlements hardly have water and electricity. However, many of the refugees have chosen to stay and meet their challenges head on, rather than go back to their native countries. Native Belizeans have developed a sense of apathy towards these refugees since most of them are aggressive job seekers and are considered as an economic threat by the Mayans.

Rights of refugees in Kenya

Article Abstract:

The present political condition in Kenya can be characterized by an institutional and judicial crisis. A police operation following a presidential statement against aliens and foreigners was considered one of the major problems faced by refugees in Kenya in 1997. This event gave rise to issues on the rights of refugees in Kenya. Police behavior during the operation was described as a violation of the international legal obligations of host countries to protect the basic rights of refugees.
