The development of the Latino social work profession in Los Angeles

Article Abstract:

This article explores the Latino experience of community organizing in Los Angeles and the development of Latino professional social work. The author examines the grass-roots social movement during the 1960s which led to Latino social work as a profession, and its eventual weakening due to the growth of a Latino middle class that lost touch with the grass-roots organization.

Evidence-based practice and policy: Choices ahead

Article Abstract:

A study evaluates prevailing views of evidence-based practice (EBP) and policy, and describes choices that reflect the adopted vision and related indicators. Among the examples used are who will select the questions on which research efforts are focused, what outcomes will be focused upon, who will select them and on what basis, and so on.
