The relevance of analysis of emotions to macro economic change: a response to concerns regarding Scheff's work

Article Abstract:

The position of Thomas J. Scheff on maintaining disciplinary boundaries between sociology and psychology was highly criticized. The relevance of creating a link between the study of emotions and macro economic change is presented. Critics opposed Scheff's proposition that if a person understands the microprocesses of emotions, he may avert or reverse social problems. Scheff's work however provides the tools with which sociologists can assess emotional responses in relation with social bond raptures.

Inner-directed actions

Article Abstract:

Inner-directed actions refer to actions which an individual directs toward himself or herself to bring about inner states or to motivate him- or herself to perform actions in the outer world. A study was conducted on the role played by inner-directed actions in understanding 'inner' phenomena with respect to emotions and the unity of the person. The study aims to develop a nonpsychological approach to the analysis of inner states and processes.

The works of Peter M. Blau: analytical strategies, developments and assumptions

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on the basic theoretical approaches and research interests of Peter M. Blau with respect to the three distinct stages of his work: exchange theory, status attainment theory, and macrostructural theory. These analytical strategies contain various continuities and transitions. To better understand the works of Blau, further studies are necessary, particularly on the second phase which deals with status attainment.
