The ultrabuilder

Article Abstract:

Building design firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill SOM is known for several high buildings in the world such as the Sears Tower in Chicago. Head structural engineer Bill Baker is slated to do several new towers, the tallest of which is the Burj Dubai at 2,500 feet. His projects, his practice and SOM's history are discussed.

Cube is a 22 story high-rise building in Miami that features highly customizable unit layouts. Based on architect Chad Oppenheim's 1994 Cornell thesis, the building is set to begin construction in January 2008.
