Unbalanced growth: Why is economic sociology stronger in theory than in policies?

Article Abstract:

The relationship between economic policies and economic sociology and the significant achievements made by economic sociology in terms of theory and research that has influenced policies in a weak manner are described. Local development and innovation are studied through a closer relationship of economic sociology with comparative political economy.

A mutual weaving of obligation networks in mass industrial markets

Article Abstract:

Sellers and buyers in a mass-market ground a model of market in an intensive field study that focuses on the practice of the mutual weaving of obligation networks. Based on the model it is shown that rationality and planning are indeed part of the structuration of markets but may not really be their essence.

Assumptions, assertions and the need for evidence: debugging debates about knowledge workers

The article analyses the existing sociological and managerial debates about knowledge workers and highlights the weakness of these debates. The requirements for a better understanding of knowledge workers based on the nature of their work, not just their occupational label is revealed.
